Josh Cotton Story Moment

This is as far as I'll take this one for the time being. There are a lot of ways it could improve and more parts to finish (finish Ethan, define lighting more, make background less ambiguous, detail and render the bugs), but deadlines! Maybe I'll come back to it someday to make a portfolio piece.

  1. Josh, this is awesome. I love the moment that you chose to draw out (I feel like you could really see this in a live action), and your ant lion looks great! I also like the dramatic lighting, but when you go to refine this piece more, I think you should somehow tone down the lighting just a little bit (I know it's supposed to be strong lighting and I know you're still working on defining it, so it's just a suggestion.) Also, I like how Ethan's figure is darker so that you almost don't notice him at first. Good job!

  2. This is coming along great! I love the texture you made for the mountainside/pit and the lighting is incredible! I agree with Esther that toning it down a little will probably help with readability. The bright beam on the far left seems a little out of place/the angle seems off compared to the others. Great job on the designs and the angle and perspective. This piece is awesome!

  3. I like the lighting how it is, it feels like a moment in a film right during a battle. I didn't realize Ethan was there at first, which could be good or bad. It almost seems distracting having him right there, I'm not sure why. The composition otherwise is working for you and the rendering of everything is looking really good.
