Garrett Hamon - Alien Vehicle Colored

  1. Love the simplification you did on the wasp's legs. Fantastic job handling the value changes in the relatively monotone beetle, too. It all reads very well. The wasp's wing's look nice and deadly but i still have a hard time knowing if they're meant to be used for flight or for combat. Overall really impressive stuff.

  2. As always, fantastic job. the beetle, while simple in color, reads as a very complex and interesting shape. and the wasp is very elegant yet deadly. i almost wish that the jets on the wasp looked like they could tuck into the thorax. i think that might give the feeling that the wasps wings are less for show and that the jets are more for quick bursts of speed rather than the main mode of flying. overall really cool designs garrett!

  3. I'm really liking the beetle, man. Those dig-in braces are an awesome solution to any stability issues it might have. Since it is so monochromatic, though, I would suggest putting something in to vary it up somewhat, even if it's just a couple lights somewhere, or a different color armor plate somewhere, because it's reading as one big silhouette right now since the values are all so similar.

I like the color scheme on the wasp, and how all the pairs of legs do different things. I will say, though, that the most interesting thing to look at on the whole design is the abdomen area. My eyes fly right past the head area and go straight down there because it's so interesting. I would give the viewer some reason to look at the head. Maybe a color that's not present on the rest of the design. The wings still feel kind of small for some reason. The other things I'm seeing is that the blade legs are posed a little awkwardly. It's like the wasp is half saying "Come at me, bro!"

  4. I could tell these were yours before I saw your name on them. Solid shapes and good use of weopons. The wasps left arm blade confused me at first, I thought it was part of the jet. Possibly moving it forward would help a bit. And I agree about the head. A little color in the eye would draw some attention to it and maybe some in the brow to where a mouth would be. Great job!

  5. Love these designs! Your shapes are great and I love the thought that went into function, especially on the beetle. I like the attention to detail in the exhaust fume shapes as well. I agree with Ryan - the beetle right now reads as a silhouette instead of a finished piece. Adding an accent color or some highlights would really help all the details come out. Great work!
